The gold is applied extensively throughout the illumination of Hs. LA 2047. It is used for headings, multiple borders, and rich floral motifs (p. 4). Notably, on folios 2b–3a, the entire writing surface is described as being 'filled in with gold' (p. 4). In the headpieces of ff. 1b and 2a, it forms a 'gilt headpiece' which serves as a background for text written in white (p. 3).
