Carbon ink was found to be predominantly used on paper supports in the corpus. Cohen (2022) identifies that carbon ink was rarely used on parchment (only 3 main texts) or leather (p. 81). In the context of official documents, specifically those from the Fatimid chancery, carbon ink on paper was the standard homogenous category (p. 69, 76). In private documents, carbon ink usage reaches approximately 25%, while it decreases to 15% for religious documents (p. 84).
