Remarks

Iron-gall ink is the primary writing material in the studied corpus of Cairo Geniza documents. Cohen (2022) notes that it dominates on parchment supports (96% of main texts) and is widely used on paper (63% for main texts) (p. 82). Its use also dominates on leather (p. 81). The study observes that Yefet b. David, a prolific scribe, consistently chose parchment for ketubot while using paper for other document types, typically utilizing iron-gall ink for these compositions (p. 76).
