Remarks

Green is associated with modesty, chastity, and saintly attributes, as well as being a color associated with the highest stages of the mystical path in Sufi tradition. Figures 4.10-11 portray Bahram Gur and his princess in green, aligning with the perception of green as the Prophet Muhammad's favorite color in Islamic tradition (p. 65, 66). It is also noted as having talismanic power, particularly in traditional tales involving emeralds (p. 66).
