Remarks

The color yellow is used to represent primarily truth, honesty, beauty, and joy. In Figures 4.6-8, Bahram Gur and the Byzantine princess are shown in bright yellow to convey these pleasant emotions (p. 63). Furthermore, Fitna is depicted in bright yellow in Figure 4.9 to reflect her honesty and the joy Bahram Gur felt upon their reunion (p. 64). In later poems like Majnun and Layla, yellow is associated with Layla as a symbol of divine beauty and the suffering of the lover (p. 78, 79).
