Remarks

Mandorlas (lawzah, turanj) are almond-shaped ornaments found in painted decoration and bookcovers (p. 151). The decoration was often achieved by panel stamping and applying gilt to fill backgrounds or the entire inner area (p. 152). Sample RBD A19 is dated 1072/1661.
