Remarks

The text documents the economic conditions surrounding the printing of shaykh Jamāl al-Dīn al-Annī’s Kifāyat al-ṭālibīn in Cairo (1918–1919). The expensiveness and difficulty of obtaining paper (p. 255) limited the production to a few copies. The costs were further exacerbated by logistical expenses, including transportation of manuscripts from Ethiopia to Egypt and taxes (p. 258).
