Ingredients

soda pulp

Preparation Steps

The material consists of soda pulp sheets identified as samples SC (Control) and SA (Aged). The preparation involves the production of a soda pulp sheet which is then subjected to an ageing process to evaluate durability and structural integrity (p. 21). Chemical analysis via Infrared spectroscopy (p. 23) monitors the state of functional groups such as O-H, C-H, and CH2.

Remarks

Morphological analysis via FE-SEM at 1000X magnification (Fig. 4, p. 21) reveals the physical state of the fibres. Comparison between the 'Before ageing' (SC) and 'After ageing' (SA) states shows visible 'Degradation of fibres'. Infrared spectroscopy (Fig. 7, p. 23) provides a molecular profile, tracking transmittance across the 3500-500 cm-1 range, specifically highlighting peaks for hydroxyl groups, aliphatic C-H bonds, and a characteristic cellulose band at 894 cm-1.
